The airport must hold a valid license from the Tennessee Aeronautics Division. Projects must be identified on the Airport Capital Improvement Plan (ACIP) and the Airport Layout Plan (ALP) for review and recommendation by the Tennessee Aeronautics Commission. For privately owned airports, State funds will only be granted to those projects that add to airport safety.
The Airport Improvement Program (AIP) provides grants to public use airports for planning and development purposes. Projects addressing airport safety, security, preservation, and/or compliance with federal and state standards are eligible for funding. TDOT provides engineering and planning staff to assist with project development and construction oversight.
