Atran Foundation, Inc. provides support for research relating to labor and labor relations, art, science, literature, economics, and sociology; support of publications furthering these purposes; and endowment for chairs of learning in these fields. Other fields of interest include: arts, cultural/ethnic awareness; employment, labor unions/organizations; history/archaeology; international studies; Jewish federated giving programs; and medical school/education.The foundation provides the following types of support: annual campaigns; conferences/seminars; continuing support; endowments; exchange programs; general/operating support; professorships; program development; publication; research; and scholarship funds.Giving is focused in New York, but some grants are made in other states. The foundation does not make grants to individuals. An application form is not required. Interested applicants should submit the following in a proposal:* The nature of the project* The objectives of the project, including its significance and usefulness* The program or plan for achieving the objectives* The estimated time period needed to carry out the program and realize the objectives* An itemized budget showing:a) Total cost of the projectb) Contributions by the applicant and by othersc) Amount requested from Atran Foundation* Whether, if the objectives are realized, it is expected that the project will be continued thereafter and, if so, to what extent additional financial support will be required for its continuance, as well as expected sources of additional funds* Whether and how the results of the project will be disseminated* A copy of the ruling granting federal tax exemption pursuant to Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue CodeOnly tax-exempt organizations may apply.There is no submission ; proposals may be submitted at any time.
