The Cleveland Foundation accepts applications to their responsive grantmaking program on an ongoing basis. The foundation makes most of its grants to 501(c)(3) organizations in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Geauga counties. Some grants are also made to government agencies and churches.Priority is given to grant requests for programs or ideas that improve access to services and programs for vulnerable and underserved populations, strengthen nonprofit organizations, test new ideas and different partnerships, and support policy and advocacy.Focus areas are:Arts & CultureEconomic & Workforce DevelopmentEducationEnvironmentHealth & Human ServicesLeadership DevelopmentNeighborhood Revitalization & EngagementYouth & Social ServicesTo begin the application process, obtain a username and password to the online grant system and establish or update the organization profile. The organization profile provides the opportunity to showcase an organization before foundation staff. The profile must be completed before submitting a grant inquiry or full application. All potential grant applicants are required to submit a grant inquiry, outlining basic information about the proposed project. If it is determined that an organization’s project fits the foundation’s guidelines, it will be asked within a few weeks to submit a full application. Note that an invitation to submit a full application does not guarantee funding at any level.Note from the Foundation: Due to their upcoming headquarters move, the monthly grant decisions will be on pause during July and August, 2022. If your organization is hoping to receive a grant before September 2022, you are urged to apply before May 15, 2022. 1/29
