Eligible entities must meet the federal definition of a “brownfield” and either own or provide written site access. Each site has a CalEnviroScreen (CES) Score of 75% or greater. If the CES Score is less than 75%, the CES Poverty percentile must be 50% or greater or the reuse is 100% affordable housing.  See the Grant Guidelines on the Grantor's Website (https://dtsc.ca.gov/ecrg-new-applicant-resources/) for additional eligibility criteria.

DTSC’s Office of Brownfields Equitable Community Revitalization Grant will provide approximately $185 million in grants through a competitive process for: Community-wide Assessments, Site-specific Investigations, and Site-specific Cleanups; The Department of Toxic Substances Control's (DTSC) Site Mitigation and Restoration Program Office of Brownfield manages the Equitable Community Revitalization Grant, which provides approximately $185 million in grants through a competitive process for investigations and cleanup of brownfields, in disadvantaged, vulnerable communities, to protect public health and provide opportunities for community revitalization.
