The following entities are eligible applicants for the GWEP:;lt;br;gt; Schools of Allopathic Medicine;lt;br;gt; Schools of Veterinary Medicine;lt;br;gt; Schools of Dentistry;lt;br;gt; Schools of Public Health;lt;br;gt; Schools of Osteopathic Medicine;lt;br;gt; Schools of Chiropractic;lt;br;gt; Schools of Pharmacy;lt;br;gt; Physician Assistant Programs;lt;br;gt; Schools of Optometry;lt;br;gt; Schools of Allied Health;lt;br;gt; Schools of Podiatric Medicine;lt;br;gt; Schools of Nursing;lt;br;gt;The following accredited graduate programs are also eligible applicants:;lt;br;gt; Health Administration;lt;br;gt; Behavioral Health and Mental Health Practice including:;lt;br;gt;o Clinical Psychology;lt;br;gt;o Clinical Social Work;lt;br;gt;o Professional Counseling;lt;br;gt;o Marriage and Family Therapy;lt;br;gt;Additional eligible applicants are:;lt;br;gt; a health care facility;lt;br;gt; a program leading to certification as a certified nurse assistant,;lt;br;gt; a partnership of a school of nursing such and facility, or a partnership of such a program and facility;lt;/span;gt;;lt;/p;gt;;lt;p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;gt;;lt;span style="color: black;gt;Faith-based and community-based organizations, Tribes, and tribal organizations may apply if otherwise eligible.;lt;br;gt;Applicants must be located in the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, the Republic of Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, or the Federated States of Micronesia. All eligible applicants must be accredited. In Attachment 8 the applicant organization must provide: (1) a statement that they hold continuing accreditation from the relevant accrediting body and are not under probation, and (2) the dates of initial accreditation and next expected accrediting body review. The full letter of accreditation is not required. Recipients must immediately inform the HRSA project officer of any change in accreditation status. If a partner organization holds the accreditation for a training program, a letter of agreement should be provided as well

The Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) purpose is to develop a healthcare workforce that maximizes patient and family engagement to address gaps in health for older adults by integrating geriatrics and primary care and other appropriate specialties, including collaboration with community partners. The purpose of this program is to improve health outcomes for older adults by developing a healthcare workforce that maximizes patient and family engagement, and by integrating geriatrics and primary care. The goals of this program are: 1) to educate and train the primary care and geriatrics workforce to care for older adults in integrated geriatrics and primary care models, and 2) to partner with community based organizations (CBOs) to address gaps in healthcare for older adults, promote age-friendly health systems and dementia-friendly communities, and address the social determinants of health.
