The Harold Alfond Foundation is a charitable private foundation with principal interests in the fields of education, health care, and youth development in the State of Maine, its primary geographic area of interest. Preference is given to large-scale projects with the potential to have a transformative impact on the people and economy of Maine.EducationCapital, endowment, scholarship and programmatic grants to public and private colleges and universities and to private secondary schools.  Grants are also made to support the construction of athletic facilities and academic buildings, such grants are designed to enhance the student experience and ensure the institution’s long-term growth, sustainability, and prosperity.Health CareSupport for capital campaigns to improve health care and educational institutions which further health care education.  In Central Maine, large scale grants have been awarded to increase operational efficiency, promote collaboration among health care entities with similar missions, and improve the delivery of and access to health care services.Youth DevelopmentSupport for organizations whose missions it is to inspire and empower youth through education, leadership, sports and recreation, and summer camp programs.Applications for funding may be submitted at any time. 10/24
