New York City Department of Environmental Protection is funding innovative \"green infrastructure\" projects in areas throughout the five boroughs served by old-style combined sewer systems.The goal of the agency's grant program is to capture and retain stormwater runoff before it ever enters the sewer system, through design and construction of green roofs, bioswales, rain gardens, and subsurface detention systems. Eligible projects include blue roofs, rain gardens, green roofs, porous pavement and rainwater harvesting on private property in combined sewer areas.Proposed projects must reduce or manage a minimum of one inch of stormwater that falls on a specific property in an area served by a combined sewer system.Applications can now be submitted at any time throughout the year. 12/28
