Coral Gables Community Foundation’s Community Giving Program

The Community Giving Program of the Coral Gables Community Foundation provides grant funding to local nonprofit organizations that address key community needs within the city of Coral Gables. The program supports initiatives that align with four primary focus areas: Arts & Culture, Education, Placemaking & Historic Preservation & Environment, and Social & Health Services. These grants are designed to enhance the quality of life for residents who live, work, learn, and play in Coral Gables by supporting impactful nonprofit programs. The application process for this funding opportunity follows a two-stage format. Organizations must first submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) to be considered for funding. Nonprofits may submit multiple LOIs if they have different projects that align with the program’s funding priorities. After reviewing LOIs, the Community Foundation will invite selected organizations to submit a full grant application. Applications are reviewed and evaluated by the Community Giving Committee, which is composed of members of the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors. To be eligible, an organization must be a nonprofit entity proposing a project that directly benefits Coral Gables residents. While organizations are not required to be headquartered in Coral Gables, their funded programs must serve the city’s population. Grants from this program are one-year grants, meaning recipients must use the awarded funds within the specified grant period. Certain types of funding requests are not eligible for consideration, including those for religious or sectarian activities, political organizations, direct individual support, annual fundraising campaigns, special events or fundraisers, and organizations operating outside the United States. The foundation does not fund requests for fundraising events or direct support to individuals. The Coral Gables Community Foundation, which administers the Community Giving Program, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing philanthropic efforts in the Coral Gables community. Since its inception, the foundation has distributed over $11 million in grants to nonprofit organizations and manages numerous charitable funds and scholarships.
