City of Lawrence Unmistakable Events Grant Program
This program provides funding to support community events that promote cultural and economic development in Lawrence, Kansas, enhancing the city's unique identity.
The FY2025 Unmistakable Events Grant Program, formerly known as the Transient Guest Tax Grant Program, supports events that align with the City’s Unmistakable Identity initiative. Administered by the Parks, Recreation, Arts, and Culture Department (PRAC), the program seeks to foster cultural and economic development through events that strengthen the community’s identity. The grant application period runs from November 8 to December 11, 2024, with submissions due by 11:00 p.m. on December 11. Applications will be evaluated by a seven-member volunteer committee comprising individuals from the Cultural Arts Commission, Parks and Recreation Advisory Boards, and experts in arts, culture, tourism, and economic development. The committee will score applications and provide recommendations to the City Commission, which has final approval of grant awards. Informational meetings for applicants will be held virtually on November 14 and November 22, with recordings available on YouTube. The City Commission will review funding recommendations during a meeting on January 7, 2025, following the ad hoc committee’s review and scoring session on January 3, 2025. Interested parties can review the program guidelines and scoring rubric for detailed instructions and criteria. For further details or assistance, contact Porter Arneill at parneill@lawrenceks.org.
