Artists Program 2025

The Grants for Artists program, offered by the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC), is designed to support the sustainability of artists’ livelihoods by providing funds for working or living expenses. Unlike project-based funding, this program emphasizes holistic support for individual artists, strengthening Maryland’s creative workforce, which is a vital part of the state’s economy and culture. Grants of $2,500 are available to individual artists who meet the eligibility criteria. Applicants must be Maryland residents for at least six months before applying and throughout the funded period, be at least 18 years old, and engage in a consistent creative practice independent of larger organizations or institutions. Artists currently enrolled in matriculated high school, undergraduate, or graduate programs are ineligible, as are recipients of a Grants for Artists award from the most recent funding cycle.
