Grant Description

The Women’s Foundation of Montana (WFM), a program of the Montana Community Foundation, is currently accepting applications for its 2025 grant cycle. The foundation is dedicated to advancing the economic security of women and creating a brighter future for girls across Montana. This annual funding opportunity is open to organizations whose missions and work align with WFM’s core values and focus on direct service, leadership development, or policy advocacy that benefits women and girls. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to eligible organizations that provide impactful, feasible, accountable, and equitable programming. WFM prioritizes applications from organizations that are led by and serve women in rural, tribal, and urban Indian communities. Specific areas of interest include expanding women’s access to essential resources and healthcare, supporting long-term economic security for women, and strengthening women’s leadership and advocacy capacities. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt under IRS 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) status (for nonpartisan activities), or be government entities such as tribal governments. Unincorporated groups and initiatives may apply with a fiscal sponsor. Nontraditional nonprofit entities are encouraged to contact WFM Director Kylie Gursky to discuss potential eligibility. Applicants must clearly demonstrate their alignment with WFM’s vision and their service to women and families in Montana. The 2025 grant application deadline is Monday, April 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Applications must be submitted online through the Montana Community Foundation’s grant portal. To support applicants, WFM is hosting Q&A sessions with Director Kylie Gursky on March 25 (1:30–2:30 PM) and March 31 (3:00–4:00 PM), where prospective grantees can ask questions and review eligibility criteria. Registration for these sessions is available online. Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of four criteria. They must show clear positive impact on women and girls in Montana, provide a feasible plan supported by a budget and timeline, demonstrate accountability by involving their community, and prioritize equity by addressing systemic barriers and serving marginalized populations. Additional support and grant guidelines are available on the WFM website, and applicants with questions are encouraged to contact Kylie Gursky directly via email at [email protected] or by phone at 406-541-7406.
