Grant Opportunity: Organizational Development Grants Funding Organization: Community Foundation for Monterey County Contact Information: Susie Polnaszek, Director, Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE), susiep@cfmco.org, 831.375.9712 x138 Grant Amount: $5,000 - $10,000 Application Deadlines: Year-round Scope and Characteristics: The Organizational Development (OD) grants aim to strengthen the internal functioning of nonprofit organizations in Monterey County. These grants support one-time activities that enhance an organization's effectiveness and efficiency. Projects can include board development, strategic planning, diversity and inclusion efforts, agency restructuring, fund development planning, evaluation and community assessments, executive coaching, marketing and communications, information management improvement, staff training, executive transitions and succession planning. Collaborative management activities that benefit a broad field of nonprofits or strengthen the capacity of the sector are also eligible. Eligibility: 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, fiscally-sponsored organizations, and occasionally other public benefit organizations serving Monterey County residents are eligible to apply. Fiscal sponsors may submit applications for multiple sponsored groups as well as their own organization. Individual organizations within a collaborative applying for a grant may also apply for their own OD grant as long as it is not for the same project as the collaborative's. Organizations can receive multiple grants in the same calendar year as long as they serve different purposes. Application and Reporting: Before applying, applicants must review the guidelines and have a conversation with CNE staff. The application process is online through the Online Grants Manager. Reporting is also done online unless reporting on a 2014 grant. Decision: Usually made within 2 months of receiving a complete application. Evaluation: A final report is due within one year of receiving the grant and should include a narrative evaluation of how the grant was used, its impact on the organization/community, lessons learned, and next steps. Exclusions: Grant funds cannot be used for expenses incurred prior to the grant award date, routine operating or program expenses, travel expenses for professional development or conferences, consulting or training duplicating CFMC services, non-secular activities, funding to supplant tax-supported services or for equipment/facility acquisition/renovation,
