IC25 Injury Prevention-Child Injury Prevention solicitation

This funding opportunity provides financial support to eligible agencies in Ohio for initiatives aimed at reducing childhood injuries through local and statewide coalitions, strategic planning, and policy changes.

$107,000
Closed
Grant Description

The Injury Prevention–Child Injury Prevention (IC26) grant is administered by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), specifically through the Bureau of Health Improvement and Wellness’ Violence and Injury Prevention Section. This continuation funding opportunity, running from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026, is supported by the federal Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant (PHHSBG). The program aims to support the continued development and enhancement of local and statewide coalitions, strategies, and policy initiatives to reduce childhood injury across Ohio. Funding is strictly deliverables-based and contingent upon the availability of federal funds. The IC26 grant provides up to $107,000 per eligible agency to support implementation of structured activities that address injury prevention in children. A total of $856,000 is allocated for up to eight primary awards. Additionally, two optional supplemental funding opportunities are available: Supplemental #1 offers up to $56,000 to Stark County Health Department for statewide coordination of the Child Injury Action Group (CIAG), and Supplemental #2 offers $24,000 for administration of a virtual Ohio Injury Prevention Partnership Conference in August 2026. These bring the total available funding to $936,000. No single award will be less than $30,000. Cost sharing is not required, and reimbursement is made only for allowable deliverable-based expenses. Eligible applicants must be in good standing with ODH, free of outstanding debts to the agency, and not currently certified to the Ohio Attorney General’s office. Applications must be submitted electronically via the Grants Management Information System Portal (GMISP) by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025. Hand-delivered, faxed, or mailed submissions will not be accepted. Applications must include updates to objectives, a work plan using the ODH-provided template, and program narratives when changes to scope or personnel are relevant. Supporting documentation such as audit reports, assurances, civil rights surveys, and registration with SAM.gov is required. Evaluation criteria for supplemental funding (particularly for the conference planning) emphasize an agency's experience, staff capacity, partnerships, and implementation methodology. Required activities for grantees include organizing local coalition meetings, implementing strategic planning and evaluation activities, participating in state-level coalitions, conducting awareness campaigns, and carrying out at least three Policy, Systems, and Environmental Change (PSEC) strategies with two additional supportive actions. Jennifer Voit, Chief of the Bureau of Health Improvement and Wellness, is the primary grantor representative. Direct questions about the application process can be sent to Tiffany Boykins via email at tiffany.boykins@odh.ohio.gov. Required progress and expenditure reports must be submitted quarterly and monthly, respectively, via GMISP, and all supporting documentation must clearly label the program name and GMISP number. The final expenditure report is due by November 5, 2026.
