Grant Description

The 2025 Workplace Safety Grants for Health Care Entities Program is administered by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and aims to strengthen safety measures in health care environments. This grant program is established under the authority of 2023 Session Law Chapter 70, Article 4, Section 109 and is part of a legislative effort to reduce workplace violence in health care settings. The primary goal is to support initiatives that improve long-term safety and stability for both patients and staff, with a particular emphasis on de-escalation and positive support training. The grant application will be available starting Friday, April 11, 2025, and all submissions must be made through the ORHPC Online Grants Portal no later than 4:30 PM Central Time on Monday, June 13, 2025. An informational webinar will be held on April 24, 2025, at 1:00 PM Central Time via Microsoft Teams to assist applicants in understanding the program requirements and application process. Eligible applicants include a variety of health care entities, specifically long-term care facilities, rural acute care hospitals with 49 or fewer staffed beds, critical access hospitals, medical clinics, dental clinics, and community health clinics. Health care systems operating in multiple locations may either submit one application covering activities across multiple sites or up to three separate applications for distinct projects at different locations. However, the award per application will not exceed $50,000 regardless of the number of locations involved. The Minnesota Department of Health anticipates awarding a total of $1,500,000 through approximately 30 grants during this funding cycle. The maximum funding per application is capped at $50,000. Applicants must use the provided grant materials, including the Request for Proposal (RFP), MDH Due Diligence Form, Sample Grant Agreement, and Budget Worksheet, to prepare their submissions. For more information or assistance with the application process, applicants can contact the Office of Rural Health and Primary Care at [email protected].
