Grant Description

The Wildhorse Foundation Grant is administered by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in partnership with the Wildhorse Resort & Casino. This private funding opportunity supports community development within the tribal homeland area, encompassing parts of northeastern Oregon and southeastern Washington. The foundation's mission is to strengthen communities by funding projects that enhance the lives of residents in designated tribal regions. The grant program focuses on ten program areas fundamental to community well-being, including arts, cultural activities, education, environmental protection, gambling addiction prevention and treatment, historic preservation, public health, public safety, and salmon restoration. Funding is available to qualified government, tribal, and nonprofit organizations serving the specified counties in Oregon and Washington, as well as tribal entities based in Oregon and national or regional Indian organizations serving Native interests. Applicants may request up to $30,000 per year, and only one grant is typically awarded per organization within a 12-month period. Additionally, a Rapid Response Grant of up to $1,500 is available throughout the year for small, unforeseen needs, but it cannot be used to supplement regular grants or ongoing operational budgets. Applications are reviewed quarterly with deadlines on January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. The review process may take up to two months, and funding decisions are final. Successful applicants must use the awarded funds strictly according to the approved project budget and submit a final report by the end of the project period, no later than one year after funds are received. To apply, applicants must ensure their proposals are complete and submitted before midnight on the respective deadline. The foundation recommends early submission to prevent disqualification due to technical issues. Only one regular grant and one Rapid Response Grant are permitted per organization within a 12-month cycle. For questions or to confirm details about the foundation or grant opportunity, applicants may contact the Wildhorse Foundation Administrator at [email protected] or (541) 966-1781.
