2025 Latino Giving Houston Grant
This grant provides $7,000 to nonprofit organizations in the Greater Houston Region that are dedicated to serving the Latinx community and demonstrate strong community engagement and inclusivity.
Latino Giving – Houston (LGH) is a philanthropic initiative dedicated to fostering a culture of giving within the Latinx community. Its mission is to support nonprofit organizations that serve Latinx individuals and families across the Greater Houston Region. The organization functions through a giving circle model, drawing on the collective contributions of a diverse group of Latinx philanthropists. This model promotes awareness of the assets, challenges, and aspirations present within the local Latinx community. LGH envisions a future in which philanthropy is an enduring cultural value among Latinx communities. For the 2025 grant cycle, LGH will distribute one general operating grant of $7,000 to a local nonprofit organization that demonstrates a strong commitment to the Latinx community. The funding is unrestricted in nature, intended to support the general operations of the selected organization rather than specific projects or programs. To qualify, applicant organizations must meet a stringent set of eligibility criteria, emphasizing both organizational accountability and community engagement. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits in good standing and maintain a recent GuideStar profile with a gold or platinum designation. Their annual operating budgets must not exceed $5,000,000. In addition, organizations must have been operational for at least three years and maintain offices or installations within the Greater Houston Region. At least half of their beneficiaries must be Latinx individuals of any race, and they must have Latinx representation on their board. Furthermore, internal practices and governance must demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and the service of Latinx populations, with no discriminatory policies based on gender, sexual orientation, ability, age, religion, or immigration status. Organizations that have previously received LGH funding must wait two calendar years before reapplying. Applications are due by Friday, June 6, 2025, and must be submitted online through the LGH application portal. The LGH Grant Committee will review all submissions using a standardized rubric to identify the top three finalists. These finalists will then be asked to submit a short video, under four minutes, to present their organization’s work. These videos and applications will be shared with LGH members, who will vote to select the final grant recipient. Applicants will be notified of the award decision in August, with a formal check presentation occurring at the LGH networking meeting in September. Organizations are advised to direct any inquiries about the grant or LGH’s giving circle methodology to the email address lgh@ghcf.org.
