Grant Description

The Nature Conservancy, a global leader in conservation, is partnering with Portland General Electric (PGE) to administer the PGE Salmon Habitat Support Fund. This fund supports the conservation and restoration of Oregon's rivers, streams, and wetlands, which are essential habitats for salmon and other wildlife. The fund is entirely supported by voluntary contributions from PGE Green Future customers, who can choose to donate an additional $2.50 per month when purchasing renewable power. The objective of the Salmon Habitat Support Fund is to finance projects that conserve, restore, or enhance habitat for native anadromous fish species throughout Oregon. The Nature Conservancy administers the fund and solicits proposals at least once annually. In years when customer contributions exceed forecasts, an additional funding cycle may be conducted later in the year. Grants are available in amounts ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. Funding is provided strictly for habitat-related projects that benefit native anadromous fish. The RFP outlines specific project criteria and application requirements. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the RFP for full details or contact the grant administrator. Eligible applicants are organizations capable of executing habitat restoration or conservation work in Oregon. Proposals must clearly demonstrate the project's contribution to improving habitat for native anadromous fish. The fund prioritizes projects that will have measurable conservation outcomes. The application period for the 2025 cycle opens on May 19, 2025, and closes on June 20, 2025. Awards will be announced in late July 2025. The fund is expected to continue on a recurring basis, with another cycle anticipated in early fiscal year 2026. For additional information, proposal templates, or assistance with technical issues, applicants may contact Claire Ruffing at [email protected] or 503-802-8113.
