Grant Description

Michigan’s Dam Risk Reduction Grant Program is currently accepting pre-applications through December 6, 2024, for projects aimed at mitigating risks associated with privately and publicly owned dams across the state. With approximately $14.1 million available through the Dam Risk Reduction Fund, appropriated under Section 309 of Public Act 53 of 2022, this program supports a range of risk-reduction activities. Eligible applicants include private dam owners and federal, state, and local government entities. Grant funding is available for activities such as planning, feasibility studies, project design, dam repair, alteration, removal, and post-project monitoring and corrective actions. Following the pre-application phase, selected high-priority projects will be invited to submit full applications for further evaluation. The total grant awards will vary based on the quality and quantity of applications received. For more information, visit the EGLE Dam Safety web page.
