Grant Description

Utah Humanities offers Program Grants of up to $8,000 to support projects that actively engage communities through the humanities. These grants are awarded on a trimester basis and are intended for large-scale public programs that incorporate diverse humanities disciplines and formats. Eligible projects should address important community issues and demonstrate meaningful engagement with the humanities. Awards are made on a competitive basis following a review and selection process conducted by a committee composed of board members and community representatives. The funding provided through these grants can be used to support a range of public programs, ensuring broad community involvement and impact. Applicants are encouraged to submit well-developed proposals that align with Utah Humanities’ mission of fostering understanding and connection through the humanities. The grant application process includes a draft submission stage, during which applicants receive feedback before submitting their final applications. This approach helps improve the quality of proposals and ensures they meet funding priorities. For the funding cycle beginning in February 2025, draft applications are due by December 9, 2024, with feedback provided by January 6, 2025. Final applications must be submitted by January 15, 2025, and award notifications will be sent by February 10, 2025. For projects starting in June 2025, draft applications are due by April 7, 2025, feedback is provided by May 2, 2025, final applications are due by May 12, 2025, and award notifications will be issued by June 6, 2025. Applicants are required to review the Program Grant Guidelines and Instructions before applying. The application process includes a draft application stage, a final submission, and adherence to post-award requirements such as audience evaluation, financial reporting, and proper use of Utah Humanities branding. Additional resources, such as the Program Grant Award Handbook, Photo Guidelines, and Sample Audience Evaluation Form, are available to help applicants comply with reporting and program requirements. Questions regarding the application process should be directed to Caitlin McDonald at [email protected]. Utah Humanities’ main office is located at 202 West 300 North, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103. The organization can also be reached by phone at 801-359-9670.
