Grant Description

oxyGEN, a national Employee Resource Group (ERG), has been committed to supporting young professionals and students in achieving their educational goals for over a decade. As part of this initiative, the organization offers an annual scholarship program aimed at fostering critical and creative thinking in students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Since its inception in 2013, oxyGEN has awarded more than $600,000 in scholarships, with a minimum individual award of $1,000. The purpose of the oxyGEN Scholarship is to recognize students who can effectively communicate the importance of a STEAM topic and demonstrate their ability to make an impact in the field or community. The scholarship is open to students enrolling in an accredited undergraduate program in the United States for the 2025-2026 academic year. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. While the scholarship is open to all eligible students, AT&T employees and their family members are also encouraged to apply. To apply, candidates must submit a 2โ€“4-minute YouTube video essay on a STEAM-related topic of their choice. The video must adhere to the scholarship rubric, demonstrating both expertise and creativity. The application period opens on January 1, 2025, and will close on April 30, 2025, at 11:59 PM ET. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Since the scholarship's founding, 334 students have received awards. Past recipients have explored diverse topics such as aerodynamic lift, the impact of Henrietta Lacks on cancer research, and innovations in car door safety. The program seeks to inspire students to explore and contribute to STEAM fields in meaningful ways. Applicants with questions about the scholarship or those interested in getting involved can reach out via email at oxygenscholarship@att.com. Additional details, including scholarship rubrics and FAQs, are available through the oxyGEN ERG website.
