Grant Description

The Nasher Artist Grants, offered by the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas, are small-sum awards intended to support the personal or professional development of local artists. Established in the spirit of fostering the vibrant art community in North Texas, this grant program underscores the Nasher Sculpture Center’s commitment to cultivating and sustaining local artistic talent. The program is endowed in honor of Jeremy Strick, whose leadership advanced the Center’s dedication to supporting regional artists through exhibitions, commissions, and educational opportunities. Raymond Nasher founded the Nasher Sculpture Center in 2003 as a permanent home for the Nasher Collection. Since its inception, the Center has become a cornerstone of Dallas’s cultural scene and a beacon for artists globally. Under Jeremy Strick’s guidance, the Center launched initiatives such as Nasher Windows and Nasher Public, which provide platforms for North Texas artists to showcase their work both at the museum and in public spaces. The establishment of the Artist Grant Fund honors Strick’s legacy and ensures ongoing support for the region’s creative community. The 2025 application cycle for the Nasher Artist Grants is open from June 1 through June 30, 2025. Applications must be submitted via the Call for Entry (CaFE) online portal. Applicants are required to create a free profile on CaFE to submit their materials. Finalists will be notified of their selection by July 22. The grants provide $2000 per award, intended to fund physical resources or endeavors that further artistic practice. Acceptable uses of the funds include studio rental, materials and equipment, research-related travel, and exhibition expenses. All submissions are subject to institutional review. Eligibility is open to artists working in any medium who are over 18 years old and reside in North Texas, specifically in the counties of Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, Collin, Hunt, Rockwall, Kaufman, Navarro, Ellis, Johnson, Somervell, Erath, Palo Pinto, Hood, Parker, or Wise. Both individual artists and artist collectives are eligible, though each may only apply once per calendar year. Collectives must list all active members in their application. Employees of the Nasher Sculpture Center and their immediate family members, as well as trustees, are not eligible. Applications are evaluated by a panel of experts. The list of past recipients and panelists is publicly available, showcasing the diversity and caliber of supported artists. The grant program is made possible by generous contributions to the Nasher Sculpture Center Artist Grant Endowment in Honor of Jeremy Strick. Donations to the fund are accepted year-round and are fully tax-deductible. Interested donors can contact David Leggett, Director of Development, Individual Giving, at 214.242.5152 or [email protected]. For questions regarding the application process, applicants should consult the Nasher Sculpture Center’s website or reach out to the appropriate contact listed therein.
