Josephine Goodyear Foundation Grant

The Josephine Goodyear Foundation Grants, administered by the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, support nonprofit organizations that serve indigent women and children, particularly by addressing their physical needs. Established in 1912 from a gift by Mrs. Frank Goodyear to create a convalescent home in Williamsville, NY, the foundation evolved into a grantmaking entity focused on aiding disadvantaged populations in the Greater Buffalo area. While its original focus was on medical services, the foundation has broadened its funding priorities in recent years to address a wider range of needs for women and children. The Foundation annually disburses approximately $300,000 across about 50 grants. Grants are awarded following Advisory Council meetings held in May and September, with corresponding application deadlines of April 15 and August 15. Applications are accepted by mail and should be two pages or fewer. The format is informal but structured. Requests must include a brief organizational summary, a concise description of the project and requested funding amount, the number and type of beneficiaries, a review of similar projects or partnerships in the area, sustainability strategies, and the status of funding requests to other sources. Applicants must also confirm their 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and provide a list of current board members along with contact details.
