Grant Description

The U.S. Embassy in Namibia is accepting proposals for the *Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) 2025* program under funding opportunity number *AF-WHK-FY25-01*. This initiative is designed to empower women entrepreneurs in Namibia by providing tools and training to grow their businesses, overcome challenges, and build networks with other women entrepreneurs both locally and in the United States. The program will incorporate in-person and online learning sessions, featuring the *DreamBuilder* course—an online platform that teaches essential business skills. The primary objectives of the program are to improve participants' understanding of business planning, equip them with practical skills for sustainable business growth, and facilitate a network of women entrepreneurs who can support and promote local partnerships. Proposals must detail how the program will be implemented, including recruitment strategies for participants, the role of the U.S. Embassy in the process, and ideas for follow-up activities to assess program impact. Sustainability measures and cost-sharing components are highly encouraged. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, civil society/non-governmental organizations, public and private educational institutions, and public international or governmental institutions. U.S.-based organizations are encouraged to partner with local Namibian organizations or experts for effective program implementation. Proposals must include a detailed budget that accounts for travel, internet/data costs for online sessions, and additional program activities. The total funding for this opportunity is set at $35,000, with no cost-sharing requirement. Only one award is expected. Applications are due by January 4, 2025, and all proposals must include clear objectives, proposed activities, recruitment strategies, and sustainability plans. Proposals should also identify relevant speakers or experts who will support program delivery. Follow-up activities to measure program success and long-term impact should also be outlined. The U.S. Embassy will play a supporting role in participant recruitment and program facilitation. Applicants should highlight how Embassy involvement will strengthen the program and propose methods for maintaining engagement with participants after program completion. This initiative seeks to build sustainable, women-led businesses that drive economic growth and empowerment in Namibia. For further information or assistance, applicants may contact *Paulina N. Moses, Youth Experiential Learning Coordinator*, via phone at 061 202 5025 or email through the contact provided in the funding announcement. Proposals should clearly align with the program's goals of business capacity building, networking, and sustainable development for women entrepreneurs in Namibia.
