2025 Grow Greene County Competitive Grant

The Grow Greene County Competitive Grant is an annual funding opportunity that supports projects benefiting residents of Greene County, Iowa. The 2025 grant cycle is now open, with applications available through the online portal starting October 1, 2024. Nonprofit organizations and government entities seeking funding must ensure that their applications and supporting documents comply with the program’s requirements. Notably, all submitted applications become public records. Organizations must provide documentation, including IRS tax-exempt designation letters, a current Certificate of Existence from the Iowa Secretary of State, and, when applicable, a copy of the IRS 990 or 990-N tax return. Additionally, a resolution or meeting minutes from the organization’s governing board approving the project must be submitted. Letters confirming matching funds from other sources are encouraged but not required. The grant aims to support projects that contribute to the development and well-being of Greene County residents. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, government entities such as municipalities, school districts, and counties, as well as groups that have a fiscal sponsor. Funding is not available for annual operating expenses, 100% project funding, financial support for individuals or families, for-profit organizations, civic or social organization memberships, endowment funds, religious worship-related projects, political activities, capital campaigns, or fundraising events. The minimum grant request amount for the Grow Greene County Competitive Grant is $35,000. Smaller grant requests must be submitted to the Greene County Community Foundation. The grant awards are announced annually in April, with the 2025 award night scheduled for April 1. Successful applicants must publicly acknowledge Grow Greene County in their project’s publicity and marketing efforts. Grant recipients are required to submit a Grant Reporting Form by December 15 of the year they receive funding and continue submitting reports annually until the project is completed. Failure to comply with reporting requirements may result in ineligibility for future funding. The deadline for submitting applications for the 2025 funding cycle is February 20, 2025, at 4:00 PM.
