FY25 Community Policing Development: Supporting Agencies Seeking Accreditation
This grant provides funding to law enforcement agencies at various levels to help them achieve accreditation and strengthen their community policing practices.
The FY25 Community Policing Development Accreditation: Supporting Law Enforcement Agencies in Seeking Accreditation program is administered by the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office). The COPS Office supports innovative law enforcement initiatives aimed at building the capacity of police agencies to implement effective community policing practices. Through its Community Policing Development (CPD) funds, the office facilitates the development and dissemination of promising practices, innovative strategies, and practical knowledge intended to reduce crime and enhance public safety across communities. This grant opportunity seeks to fund law enforcement agencies at the state, local, tribal, or territorial levels that are aiming to attain accreditation. The primary purpose is to enhance these agencies’ capacities to adopt and institutionalize community policing practices through accreditation. Accreditation is viewed as a pathway to formalize and validate operational standards and accountability within law enforcement institutions. This aligns with broader goals to reestablish law and order, promote safe neighborhoods, and advance federal priorities such as collaboration with federal task forces, fighting drug trafficking, and supporting immigration enforcement. Applicants may propose partnerships under this program; however, only one agency may serve as the primary applicant responsible for the overall administration, funding management, and compliance monitoring. Subrecipients and contractors involved must be properly categorized in accordance with the guidelines outlined in 2 C.F.R. § 200.331. The program does not require cost-sharing or matching contributions from applicants. The application process requires submission through both Grants.gov and the Justice Grants System (JustGrants). For submission of the SF-424 form, applicants should use Grants.gov, while JustGrants is used for the full application and additional documentation. Technical support is available through Grants.gov at 800-518-4726 or [email protected], and through JustGrants Support at [email protected] or 833-872-5175. For program-specific inquiries, applicants may contact the COPS Office Response Center at 800-421-6770 or via email at [email protected]. The application window opened on May 14, 2025, and the final deadline for submissions is June 24, 2025. Up to eight awards will be granted, with a total funding pool of $2,000,000. The maximum award per recipient is $250,000, with no minimum award amount specified. Applicants are encouraged to review all application guidance documents and training materials provided by the COPS Office.
