Grant Description

The After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program provides funding opportunities for organizations that offer after-school education and safety programs. This program is designed to support the creation and sustainability of after-school programs that contribute to the educational, social, and recreational development of students. The ASES Program supports both new applicants and current grantees who are seeking to expand their services or renew their existing grants. For new applicants, the program provides the opportunity to apply for initial funding for after-school programs. In addition, current ASES grantees may apply for funding to support new program sites or increase funding for existing sites up to the legislative cap. When applying for an increase in funding, it is crucial to request only the additional amount needed, rather than the total grant amount. For example, if a program is currently funded at $120,000 and seeks an increase up to the legislative cap of $152,612.13, the application should focus solely on the additional $32,612.13 requested. Current ASES grantees are also eligible to apply for grant renewal every three years within their assigned grant cycle. Renewal applications should not request any changes in funding, and the renewal process ensures the continuity of funding for already established after-school programs. All funding decisions are made based on the ranking of Free and Reduced Price Meal eligibility at each site. This ensures that funding is directed toward areas with the highest need, supporting students from low-income families.
