USArtists International, FY 2026

The USArtists International (USAI) program, supported by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), aims to facilitate the participation of U.S. performing artists and nonprofit arts organizations at international festivals, significant arts marketplaces, juried showcases, and conferences outside the United States. The program highlights artistic excellence and expands the global reach of U.S. creative expression by supporting diverse artistic voices and underserved communities. Funding priorities include projects that elevate unique U.S. cultural expressions while fostering cross-cultural exchange. For FY26, one grant of up to $435,000 will be awarded to a U.S. Regional Arts Organization (RAO) to administer the USAI program. This grant supports RAO program management expenses and subawards to participating U.S. artists and arts organizations. Subawards, ranging from $1,000 to $20,000, will cover eligible expenses such as artist fees, travel, housing, per diem, shipping, and visa preparation. Recipients of subawards must provide a cost share or match equal to the award amount. Eligibility is limited to RAOs comprising at least three state arts agency members. Applicants must meet NEA legal requirements, have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), and maintain active registration in SAM.gov throughout the application and award period. Each RAO must ensure that subawards adhere to Uniform Guidance under 2 CFR Part 200 and NEA’s General Terms and Conditions. Applications are submitted electronically via Grants.gov, with a deadline of January 16, 2025. Applicants are encouraged to submit by January 6, 2025, to resolve any technical issues. Required documents include a narrative describing the RAO’s experience in international arts exchanges, project activities, schedules, promotional strategies, and unique contributions to the program. Bios of key personnel, a budget form, and supporting materials such as examples of programmatic work are also required. Applications are evaluated based on artistic excellence, artistic merit, organizational capacity, and strategies to promote the program’s visibility. Successful applicants will be notified in April 2025, with projects starting no earlier than June 1, 2025. Post-award responsibilities include adherence to NEA reporting requirements, financial tracking, and compliance with civil rights and federal guidelines.
