Grant Description

The Baptist Foundation of California (BFCal) provides grants to support churches affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention (CSBC) in their outreach and evangelism efforts. These grants are made possible through the generosity and stewardship of California Southern Baptists. The purpose of this funding is to assist churches in conducting outreach activities that align with their mission to make disciples of all nations. The program specifically supports evangelism, missions, ministry outreach, disaster relief efforts, and hunger relief efforts within the state of California. To be eligible, churches must be affiliated with the CSBC and must currently contribute financially to the Cooperative Program of the CSBC. Additionally, churches that have already received $5,000 or more from the same grant program within the current year are not eligible for further funding. First-time applicants are given priority during the selection process. Grant recipients must submit an outcome report to SoCal within 30 days after the completion of their project. Failure to submit this report may result in ineligibility for future funding. Projects funded by this grant must take place in California and fall under one of five approved categories: missions, evangelistic outreach, ministry outreach, disaster relief efforts, or hunger relief efforts. The grant does not fund general budget needs such as staffing, equipment, unrestricted funds, capital improvements, debt relief, camps or retreats, or mission trips. The event or project must take place at least 50 days after the application deadline to ensure proper planning and execution. Applications for funding must be submitted by one of three deadlines: January 15, 2025 (for events occurring after March 5, 2025), July 15, 2025 (for events occurring after September 3, 2025), or January 15, 2026 (for events occurring after March 5, 2026). Applicants must ensure that their sponsoring church has the ability to receive funds via electronic direct deposit. For more information or inquiries, applicants can contact The Baptist Foundation of California at their office in Ontario, CA, via email at info@bfcal.org, or by phone at 909-738-4000.
