2025-2026 Benevolence Grant
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in San Diego County that benefit local residents, with strict guidelines on eligible expenses and a focus on community involvement.
The Thursday Club provides grants aimed at supporting nonprofit organizations that directly benefit the residents of San Diego County. The club has established specific guidelines and eligibility criteria to ensure that grant funds are used effectively and appropriately. Applicants are required to review and sign the general grant application guidelines as part of their submission, affirming their understanding and agreement to the terms outlined. The Thursday Club Grant does not fund general operating expenses, including rent or mortgage payments, dues or subscriptions, service contracts, utilities, or reserve funds. Additionally, the grant does not cover salaries, wages, fringe benefits, capital campaigns, building or construction costs, acquisition of real estate, endowments, or investment accounts. Existing obligations, deficits, debts, leases, or reimbursements are also excluded from funding. The grant funds must be used solely within San Diego County for the benefit of its residents, and all expenditures must strictly align with the specific purpose stated in the grant application. Applicants must be nonprofit entities with both Federal 501(c)(3) status and California State 23701d tax-exempt status for a minimum of two years prior to the application date. The organization must also be based in San Diego. Required documentation includes proof of tax-exempt status and the organization’s eligibility as described. Organizations that received funding in the 2024-2025 grant year must wait two calendar years before reapplying. This ensures that funding opportunities are distributed equitably across the community. Grants must be fully expended by December 31, 2026. By this date, all grant recipients are required to submit a balance sheet and income statement, accompanied by supporting documentation, to confirm that funds were used appropriately. Extensions for either fund expenditure or reporting are considered on a case-by-case basis by The Thursday Club Board. Recipients must adhere strictly to the intended use of grant funds. Any deviation may result in forfeiture of funding rights, demands for repayment, and possible exclusion from future funding opportunities. Additionally, grant checks will only be made payable to nonprofit organizations, never to individuals. Applicants approved for funding are encouraged to support The Thursday Club and its affiliated entities by volunteering with their fundraising activities. The grant application and supporting documents must be complete for an organization to be considered for funding. Incomplete submissions or use of funds for unapproved purposes will disqualify applicants. The Thursday Club emphasizes compliance and community involvement as key components of its grant program.
