Robert H. Spitz Foundation Grant 2025
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations in Lackawanna County and Northeastern Pennsylvania for programs that address poverty, support Jewish culture, and maintain cemeteries.
The Robert H. Spitz Foundation, administered by the Scranton Area Community Foundation, has opened its Spring 2025 grant cycle. Beginning April 1, 2025, eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are invited to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) no later than April 30, 2025, at 11:59 PM. Selected organizations will then be invited to submit a full grant application, which will be due by May 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM. This foundation funds initiatives that serve residents of Lackawanna County and Northeastern Pennsylvania. Grants are awarded exclusively through an online portal; paper and emailed submissions will not be considered. Since its inception in 2016, the Robert H. Spitz Foundation has awarded over $6 million to support impactful programs and services in the region. The Spring 2025 priority areas include: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty: Programs that address economic barriers, promote access to affordable housing, transportation, education, and job training, and foster independence in both adults and children. Jewish Culture & Cemeteries: Initiatives supporting Jewish heritage, community activities, and the maintenance of cemeteries. Organizations that have received funding for three consecutive years must wait one full year (two grant cycles) before applying again. This is the first of two grant rounds planned for 2025. The Fall 2025 cycle will focus on Veterans' Affairs, Animal Welfare, and Environmental Programs. Interested applicants should visit the Foundation's website to submit their LOI and review additional guidelines. Full applications will only be accepted from those invited to advance in the process. For questions, applicants may contact the Scranton Area Community Foundation at (570) 347-6203.
