Grant Description

The Atmore Community Foundation, an affiliate of The Community Foundation of South Alabama (CFSA), was established in April 2017 to support the Atmore community through donations and bequests that benefit the area in perpetuity. The Foundation is currently opening its 2024-2025 competitive grantmaking cycle to award grants to local nonprofits. These grants are funded through the Atmore Community Fund, which was established to address the most pressing needs of the Atmore community, specifically the 36502 zip code. The Foundation will evaluate proposals based on their potential impact, quality of planning, leadership, and relative need, as well as the funds available for distribution. The Atmore Community Foundation’s grantmaking priorities for 2024-2025 are broad, focusing on several key areas that improve the quality of life in Atmore. These priority areas include Arts & Culture, Community/Economic Development, Education, Environment/Beautification, Health & Wellness, Human Services, Recreation, Technology, and Youth. Proposals from nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, religious organizations, and government entities that serve the Atmore community will be considered. Preference will be given to proposals that involve collaboration between multiple organizations. Organizations applying for funding should request amounts not exceeding $3,000, with most grants likely falling between $500 and $1,000. The requested funding is intended to be used for program services and capacity building, helping to strengthen the organization's ability to deliver essential services. Funding for capacity building may include strategic planning, leadership development, marketing, fundraising, and technology improvements. Grants are typically limited to 12 months in duration. Successful applicants will be required to sign a grant agreement with the Atmore Community Foundation and will be expected to attend an orientation. They will also need to provide program-specific data to track the success and impact of funded programs. A final report may be required after project completion. The Foundation prohibits funding for individuals, debt reduction, fundraising events, political organizations, and organizations that discriminate based on certain characteristics. Applications for the 2024-2025 grant cycle must be submitted electronically by April 4, 2025, by 4:59 p.m. CST through the CFSA Online Application portal. Applicants will be notified of the final decision by June 27, 2025, and a grantee orientation will be held in July 2025. Technical support for applications will be available until noon CST on April 4, 2025.
