This funding opportunity supports community-driven projects that promote local engagement and environmental awareness through volunteer and grassroots initiatives.
The FAO (Foundation For Appalachian Ohio) invites proposals for community projects that aim to create positive local change through "people-powered" initiatives. Eligible projects include volunteer-led efforts, youth-led activities, grassroots initiatives, and those led by civic associations. Examples include stream clean-ups, trail maintenance, community pollinator gardens, environmental education workshops, wildlife habitat restoration, storybook trails, pocket parks, greenspaces, community gardens, citizen scientist activities, and public awareness campaigns. Projects should enhance community engagement and environmental awareness. Public and nonprofit organizations, as well as individuals or groups working with a fiscal sponsor, can apply for grants ranging from $500 to $5,000. A total of $20,000 is available for awards. Applications must be submitted online by September 1, along with IRS Decision Letters or Audited Financial Statements via email. Grant decisions will be announced by September 30
