United Way of Mifflin-Juniata Grant Program
This funding opportunity provides financial support to nonprofit organizations in Mifflin and Juniata counties that deliver impactful programs focused on improving education, income, and health for local residents.
The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata (UWMJ) is a community-focused organization dedicated to improving the lives of residents in Mifflin and Juniata counties. Its mission is to mobilize community resources to support programs in the areas of Education, Income, and Health. Through this Request for Program Funding (RFP) for the 2025-2026 cycle, UWMJ seeks to allocate donor contributions to high-impact programs that demonstrate measurable progress in these key areas. This funding opportunity is open to 501(c)(3) organizations that provide human services and operate within Mifflin and Juniata counties. Eligible applicants must meet the requirements of the Partnership Eligibility Criteria and ensure their proposed programs align with UWMJ’s focus on Education, Income, or Health. Organizations may request funding ranging from a minimum of $5,000 to a maximum of $40,000 per program. Applications that are incomplete or submitted after the deadline will be reviewed separately and may not be approved for funding. The grant review process involves multiple stages, including compliance review, proposal evaluation, and in-person presentations. The Community Investment Review Committee, consisting of at least 20 community volunteers, will assess proposals using five key criteria: Community Need, Impact, Evaluation, Preparation/Experience, and Commitment to UWMJ. After initial evaluations, funding recommendations will be made, and final decisions will be ratified by the UWMJ Board of Directors. Key dates for this funding cycle include the proposal release on February 10, 2025, an optional Q&A session on March 3, 2025, and the submission deadline on March 17, 2025, before noon. Agency interviews will take place on May 5, 2025, followed by the final funding approval by the UWMJ Board on May 21, 2025. Organizations that are awarded funding must complete a “Statement of Partnership” by the end of June 2025. Funded programs will be required to track and report measurable outcomes during the January 2026 UWMJ partner meeting. Additionally, partner agencies may be subject to site visits at any point throughout the year. If any program details change after application submission or funding approval, organizations must notify UWMJ in writing within 30 days. The funding allocation process ensures that community investments are directed toward programs that effectively address local needs and demonstrate a commitment to long-term community impact.
