Excellence in Education Fund 2025
This funding opportunity supports educational and workforce development programs in Kent County, Delaware, focusing on preparing underserved individuals for careers in critical sectors like healthcare, construction, and technology.
The Excellence in Education Grant, administered by the Cendel Foundation and overseen by the Excellence in Education Advisory Board, supports educational and workforce development initiatives in Kent County, Delaware. The grant aims to address occupational shortages and improve economic opportunities, particularly among underserved populations. Up to $25,000 in total funding is available in 2025 for qualified programs that prepare individuals for the workforce through education and training. Established in 2019 through contributions from Statewide Workforce Development, Kent Economic Partnership, Greater Kent Committee, Delaware State News, and the Kent County community, the Excellence in Education Fund is housed within the Cendel Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Applications are open to public institutions and 501(c)(3) organizations that can document their nonprofit status and serve Kent County residents without discrimination. The grant specifically supports programs that align with workforce development in areas identified as critical by the Rockport Study, such as healthcare, construction, logistics, education, business, technology, and more. Programs should aim to build practical skills through apprenticeships, certifications, and soft skills training. Funding may not be used for general operating expenses, capital projects, lobbying, debt reduction, or fundraising. Applications will be evaluated based on clarity, program quality and impact, educational value, economic development potential, and investment leverage. Past recipients must describe how additional funding will enhance their programs and include marketing samples featuring the Excellence in Education logo. The review process may include site visits, and acceptance of an application does not guarantee funding. Applicants must mail a completed grant application, a detailed budget, proof of nonprofit status, recent financial statements, and a list of board members by June 30, 2025. Digital submissions or faxed materials will not be accepted. Programs must not commence before funding is awarded, which will occur at the Annual Excellence in Education Event (date to be determined). For transparency, applicants must disclose any affiliations with current or past members of the Excellence in Education Advisory Board. A completed disclosure statement must accompany the grant application to ensure ethical standards are upheld throughout the review process.
