Project Support Grant

The Virgin Islands Council on the Arts (VICA) offers the Project Support grant to fund art programming initiatives. VICA is the primary arts agency of the U.S. Virgin Islands and provides funding with the intent of fostering artistic development and community engagement through creative projects. This funding opportunity supports individuals and organizations delivering art programming in the Virgin Islands. Eligible applicants include individuals, non-profit arts organizations, service organizations, schools, and governmental units. Organizations must be active in the territory for at least two years, have nonprofit status or work under an umbrella organization, and be registered with the Lt. Governor and SAM.gov. Individual applicants must reside in the Virgin Islands for a minimum of two years, hold a DUNS number, and provide relevant endorsements if working within school settings. Grants under this category offer funding of up to $7,000 per fiscal year. Funds may not be used for food, capital expenditures, legal fees, or tuition, among other listed disallowances. All awarded grants must be matched through a combination of cash and in-kind services based on fair market value. Grantees must credit VICA and the National Endowment for the Arts in promotional materials and allow for project evaluations by VICA staff and board members. Applicants are required to attend a “How to Apply” workshop offered each summer on all islands. Completed applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors, and decisions are made within 30 days after the application deadline. The full grant process typically spans three to four months. VICA also provides specific documentation upon award, including contracts, logos, and final reporting forms. Applications for the Project Support grant are due by August 31st of each year.
