Grant Description

The ArtSeed Grant Program, administered by the Racine Arts Council (RAC), is designed to nurture and promote the arts within Racine County, Wisconsin. The grant supports innovative, experimental, or new projects that enrich the local arts scene and stimulate community involvement. The program encourages submissions from both individuals and small arts groups and is especially interested in initiatives that foster collaboration and partnerships. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations located in Racine County, with or without 501(c)(3) status. Those without 501(c)(3) status must provide documentation of a fiscal receiver relationship with an organization that does hold this designation. Individual artists residing in Racine County, as well as both public and private schools that are partnering with artists or arts programs, are also eligible to apply. Prior recipients may receive funding for up to three consecutive years but must wait one year before reapplying for a new cycle. Applicants can apply for one of four fixed funding levels: $500, $1,000, $1,500, or $2,000. All applications must include a one-to-one match in cash, in-kind services, or a combination of both. Projects cannot be funded if they are outside Racine County, are purely operational or capital improvements (unless directly connected to the proposed project), involve scholarships or fundraising activities, or already receive direct funding from the Wisconsin Arts Board (WAB). The program itself is partially supported by the Wisconsin Arts Board with state funds. The 2025 grant application opened on March 24, 2025, and all applications must be submitted by May 2, 2025. Applicants are required to complete an application form and attach a narrative document addressing seven application questions, along with a project budget. Submissions should be emailed to director@racineartscouncil.org with the subject "ARTSEED Application 2025." Confirmation of receipt will be sent within five business days. The review panel will discuss applications on May 19, 2025, with award notifications issued on June 16, 2025. Grants will be formally awarded on July 1, 2025, and projects must be conducted between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. Successful applicants will receive 75% of the award upon submission of a signed grant contract and W-9 form, and the remaining 25% upon submission of a final report. Final reports for 2025 grantees are due by April 15, 2026. Grantees may be invited to participate in a RAC event in Spring 2026.
