Northwest Community Bank Foundation Grant
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations and municipalities in Connecticut to support initiatives in education, housing, healthcare, and community services that improve local quality of life.
The Northwest Community Bank Foundation is dedicated to supporting nonprofit organizations that enhance the quality of life in the communities it serves. Established following the consolidation of Collinsville Bank and Litchfield Bancorp into Northwest Community Bank in 2021, the Foundation aims to foster partnerships and promote innovative solutions to address complex community needs. The Foundation provides grants across multiple focus areas, including education, affordable housing, human services, healthcare, community impact, environmental conservation, arts, and animal welfare. The Foundation offers two grant cycles annually. For 2025, the first cycle opens on February 15th, with applications due by March 15th, and award notifications issued by May 15th. The second cycle opens on August 15th, with applications due by September 15th, and notifications sent by November 15th. In 2024, the Foundation awarded $200,500 in grants to 126 nonprofit organizations across two grant cycles. Grants typically range in size, with an average award of $1,600. Eligible applicants must be registered 501(c)(3) organizations providing services within the Foundation’s designated communities. Municipalities may also apply if their requests fall outside of standard municipal responsibilities. The Foundation does not fund individuals, religious programs, political organizations, endowments, fundraising events, travel expenses, or other restricted categories. Preference is given to organizations that primarily serve the following Connecticut communities: Avon, Barkhamsted, Berlin, Bethlehem, Bloomfield, Bridgewater, Bristol, Burlington, Canaan, Canton, Colebrook, Collinsville, Cornwall, East Granby, Falls Village, Farmington, Goshen, Granby, Hartford, Hartland, Harwinton, Kent, Lakeville, Litchfield, Morris, New Britain, New Hartford, Newington, New Milford, Norfolk, Plainville, Rocky Hill, Roxbury, Salisbury, Sharon, Simsbury, Southington, Suffield, Terryville, Thomaston, Torrington, Warren, Washington, Watertown, West Hartford, Wethersfield, Windsor, Windsor Locks, Winsted, and Woodbury. Funding is available for program grants, capacity-building grants, and select capital projects. Capital grants are available selectively and typically focus on significant building acquisitions, renovations, or expansions. Organizations may apply to one grant cycle per year, with a total annual grant cap of $25,000 per applicant, though exceptions may be considered. Applications are reviewed by the Foundation’s Board of Directors based on an organization’s financial sustainability, leadership, community impact, and collaboration with other entities.
