APEX Accelerator Program
The APEX Accelerator Program is a Department of Defense initiative designed to provide education, training, and assistance to businesses, particularly Native American-owned, to help them secure contracts with federal, state, and local governments, thereby strengthening the defense industrial base and promoting diversity and resilience in the supply chain.
The Department of Defense (DoD) has announced a funding opportunity under the APEX Accelerator Program, identified by the opportunity number DOD2025APEXACCELERATOR. This program aims to provide support to APEX Accelerators, formerly known as the Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP). These accelerators play a crucial role in helping small and medium-sized businesses, including Native American firms, to participate in federal, state, and local government contracts, including the defense supply chain. The program's mission is to accelerate innovation, foster ingenuity, and establish resilient supply chains by providing businesses with education and training in contracting processes. This funding opportunity is being administered as a cooperative agreement, with an estimated total program funding of $47 million for FY 2025. The expected number of awards is 95, with award ceilings up to $1.5 million and floors as low as $60,000. Eligible applicants include county and city governments, special district governments, Native American tribal governments, and nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status, excluding higher education institutions. The funding requires cost-sharing or matching contributions. The application window closes on October 24, 2024, with awards expected to be distributed to successful applicants soon after the closing date.
