Grant Description

The CECO (County Employees’ Charitable Organization) Community Grants Program is now accepting applications for its 2025 grant cycle, with the application window open from October 14, 2024, through November 14, 2024. CECO has a long history of supporting local nonprofit organizations in San Diego since 1956, funding items that meet tangible needs, like equipment or furnishings, which directly benefit those served by the applicant’s program. The program emphasizes that 100% of contributions are directed toward addressing various needs within the San Diego community, promoting health, safety, and sustainability. Eligible applicants must be registered nonprofit organizations or bona fide educational institutions in good standing, with proof provided through an Entity Status Letter. Nonprofits must fulfill a lawful public purpose and operate within a scope that supports the health and sustainability of the community. Organizations that received CECO funding between 2022 and 2024 must have submitted proof of purchase for items specified in their previous grant award letter by September 30 of the awarded year. Additionally, 2024 grant recipients are required to have acknowledged CECO’s support, for example, through social media, newsletters, or other public communication, by September 30, 2024. Each organization is limited to one application for this grant cycle, with funding requests capped at $10,000. Applicants must complete the online 2025 Community Grant Application, including all required information and supporting documents. After submission, applicants will receive a confirmation email sent to both primary and secondary contacts, through which additional documents can be uploaded as required. All submissions must be completed no later than 11:59 p.m. on November 14, 2024. As CECO cautions, organizations should not rely on this grant for consistent funding year-over-year, as past awards do not assure future grants. To support applicants, CECO hosted a virtual workshop on October 24, 2024, which provided an overview of the application process and requirements. The workshop recording is available for interested nonprofits to review the application process comprehensively. For detailed application guidance, applicants are encouraged to read the full CECO Community Grants webpage and the 2025 CECO Community Grant Instructions before applying. This will ensure that they understand all requirements, supporting documentation, and eligibility criteria fully before submitting their application.
