Grant Description

The Rostan Family Foundation, Inc., through the administration of the Community Foundation of Burke County (CFBC), offers grant funding for the 2025 cycle to tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations operating programs that benefit residents of Burke County, North Carolina. The foundation strictly supports charitable, humanitarian, or educational initiatives, and utilizes the Foundant online grant management system for its application process. Applications must propose projects or programs with a minimum funding requirement of $5,000, and must fall strictly within the foundation’s outlined guidelines. Priority is given to proposals that align with community needs and resource availability, enhance services for underserved clients, promote independence and responsibility, and emphasize prevention and early intervention strategies. Additional favorable considerations are extended to pilot programs that can serve as scalable models, projects with plans for financial sustainability, and efforts that foster community improvement or cultural awareness. Programs located in or serving Valdese and Burke County are especially prioritized. The foundation does not support proposals from organizations that primarily regrant funds, duplicate existing services, or request repeat funding for similar projects. It will not fund individual school projects unless in collaboration with a nonprofit or under limited grant exceptions. Other exclusions include annual or capital campaigns, religious or political initiatives, scholarships, endowment augmentations, and general operating expenses. Applicants must use the CFBC Foundant system to apply. Returning applicants should log in with existing credentials, while new applicants must create an account. After account creation, users may access the application form, monitor application progress, and upload documents using specific instructions, including a “Fax to File” option for non-electronic documents. The 2025 grant application cycle opens on April 14 and closes on June 13 at 5:00 PM. Final grant decisions will be made in the fall of 2025. Applicants are encouraged to download their submissions and follow system tips for file preparation, activity timeouts, and application edits. Once submitted, applications cannot be changed without contacting CFBC staff. For assistance, applicants may contact the Community Foundation of Burke County office at 828-437-7105.
