C&B Better Initiative

The C&B Better Initiative is a community-focused grant spearheaded by employees of Cottingham & Butler. This initiative is deeply rooted in the company’s mission and values, emphasizing a strong culture of philanthropy and community engagement. The grant program is administered through the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and is designed to support nonprofits that align with Cottingham & Butler’s vision of building stronger communities. The initiative awards three grants annually. One nonprofit will receive a one-time award of $25,000, while two additional organizations will be awarded up to $15,000 and $10,000, respectively. Selection is made through a review and voting process conducted by Cottingham & Butler team members. This grant cycle is open from June 1 through June 30 each year. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations located in or serving residents of Dubuque County, Iowa. Preference is given to proposals that support health, education, and economic empowerment; promote social awareness and inclusion; or foster community development and relationship-building. Projects may span multiple categories, including access to healthcare, food, shelter, mentorship, and neighborhood revitalization. The application process is managed through the GOapply grant system.
