Grant Description

The Ohio Parenting and Pregnancy Program is a state-funded initiative administered by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth (DCY) to support services that benefit pregnant women, parents, and relatives caring for infants up to 12 months of age. This funding opportunity, released as RFGA Opportunity Number DCY-G-0214R, aims to enhance service availability, boost community awareness, and expand support offerings across Ohio. The grant focuses on promoting childbirth, parenting, and alternatives to abortion while aligning with the objectives of the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, as codified in 42 U.S.C. 601. The grant’s scope includes delivering direct services and outreach to underserved populations, emphasizing the reduction of out-of-wedlock pregnancies, supporting two-parent family structures, assisting needy families to care for children in their homes, and encouraging job preparation and self-sufficiency for parents. The program will be funded through Ohio’s General Revenue Funds, even though the broader framework for the initiative is outlined under Ohio Revised Code 5101.804. Funding is specifically earmarked for private, nonprofit entities, including faith-based organizations and houses of worship. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, faith-based associations, houses of worship, and other private nonprofit entities. The project will commence on July 1, 2025, and end on June 30, 2027. The application window opens on April 10, 2025, and closes on June 9, 2025. No financial match is required from applicants, easing the financial burden and increasing accessibility to a wide range of community-based service providers. Applicants are required to complete several documents, including a detailed budget narrative and a standardized Excel-based budget template. Additional guidance and clarification are provided through an official RFGA document, a sample grant agreement (which is not to be submitted), and a publicly available Q&A document. These materials aim to help applicants prepare thorough and compliant proposals. Proposals will be reviewed for alignment with the program’s goals, feasibility, community impact, and capacity to meet the service needs of the target population. All communications regarding the application process must be directed to the Department of Children and Youth via the designated email: Procurement_Inquiries@childrenandyouth.ohio.gov. For further resources, including tips for applying and access to current and past funding opportunities, applicants are encouraged to visit the Ohio Grants Partnership website or contact them via email at Grants@OBM.Ohio.Gov. The program’s main office is located at 30 E. Broad Street, 34th Floor, Columbus, OH 43215.
