STEAM Education Programs for Teens in Texas

The Texas Capital Foundation Honors Awards program is a competitive grant opportunity aimed at funding innovative and sustainable solutions addressing critical community needs through its philanthropic pillars: Live, Learn, and Lift. In 2025, the foundation will award $50,000 each for three categories: Live, which supports mental health and chronic disease prevention programs for children; Learn, which focuses on STEAM education for teens; and Lift, which funds prevention and mentorship programs for youth. An additional $100,000 STAR Award will be granted to initiatives supporting military and veteran families. Eligibility is limited to organizations with current tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code, providing direct services to low- and moderate-income communities in Texas Capital’s service areas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of three years of performance in their programs and provide documentation such as financial statements, a list of board members, and an organizational chart. Grantees are required to submit an Impact Statement at the conclusion of the grant year. Submissions open on November 1, 2024, and close on January 3, 2025. The review process begins immediately after, with top 12 finalists announced on February 21, 2025. These finalists will participate in a Pitch Day on March 21, 2025, where they present to the foundation board. Final grant recipients will be announced on May 5, 2025. Organizations engaged in political advocacy, for-profit entities, municipalities, individuals, membership-based organizations, and those not primarily serving low- to moderate-income communities are not eligible to apply. Additionally, funding will not support ticketed events like luncheons, golf tournaments, or galas. This program is ideal for nonprofits with a strong track record of impactful work in one of the designated pillars, aiming to scale their efforts in addressing the pressing needs of underserved communities.
