Grant Description

The State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) Grant aims to aid Louisiana's small businesses in increasing export revenue and preserving or generating employment through international sales. Qualified small businesses can receive reimbursement for costs linked to participating in both virtual and physical trade exhibitions, missions, and export training workshops. Eligible expenses also cover shipping sample products, compliance testing, U.S. Commercial Service's fee services, international website development, and marketing media design, among other approved activities. The grant provides a 90% reimbursement rate for eligible costs, capping the benefit at $10,000 per company.

Additional Requirements

Companies must comply with the SBA's small business definition, have been operational for at least one year, be profit-oriented and located in Louisiana. They should be new to exporting or aiming for new export markets, possess an export strategy, be aware of export-related costs, and intend to export U.S.-origin goods or services, or those with at least 51% U.S. content. Companies must not be barred from federal business engagements.
