Grant Description

The Iowa Culture Leadership Cohort is a skill-building program for small to mid-sized Iowa arts, culture, history, and humanities nonprofit organizations. Administered by the Iowa Arts Council within the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA), this program offers training, networking, and technical assistance to address the unique challenges faced by these organizations. The program is funded by an appropriation from the Iowa Legislature to IEDA and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The application deadline for the 2025 cohort is August 20, 2024.

Additional Requirements

Eligible applicants must be one of the following types of entities. Entities who do not fall into one of these categories are not eligible to apply. • Identify as either an arts or cultural organization. o Arts organizations are defined as organizations whose primary mission and purpose is focused on the arts. o Cultural organizations are defined as organizations whose primary mission and purpose is cultural or humanities focused or meets the definition of the interpretive sciences. • Nonprofit organization incorporated and physically located in Iowa exempt from federal taxes pursuant to US Revenue Code section 501(c)3. • Actively registered with the Iowa Secretary of State to do business in the State of Iowa. • An arts or cultural department or division of a municipal government that is also incorporated in Iowa under the Iowa Nonprofit Corporation Act.
