Grant Description

The Summer 2025 Nonprofit Professional Development Grant Cohort is a training initiative administered by Loudoun County, Virginia, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) - State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. This program is specifically designed to assist nonprofit organizations that serve residents of Loudoun County in building their internal grant-seeking and proposal development capacities. By engaging in this cohort, participants will gain hands-on experience in identifying, preparing for, and applying to funding opportunities, culminating in a complete set of proposal materials by the end of the training. The primary goal of the cohort is to help nonprofits increase their chances of securing diversified funding streams. The six-week training program, running from June to August, involves four intensive sessions, during which organizations will build and refine their grant proposals. These sessions aim to prepare participants for both internal and external funding opportunities and help nonprofits implement systemic development strategies within their organizations. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations that serve Loudoun County residents. Each organization must designate a lead applicant, who may be a staff member, volunteer, or board member with responsibilities related to grant writing or management. Organizations are expected to have previously attended related training sessions and must commit to participating in a post-cohort evaluation. Preference is given to organizations with a demonstrated history of involvement in professional development and training. Applications are to be submitted online via the AmpliFund grant management system. Although this is not a funding application, participants must input "$0.01" in the funding request field due to software requirements. The application requires comprehensive organizational and contact details, selection of relevant past training sessions attended, staff roles committed to training, and confirmation of executive leadership approval. Applicants are advised to save their progress frequently due to system timeouts. Training content will draw from past Loudoun County workshops and seminars, including "Grants Management Best Practices," "Data Management for Grant Seeking," "Community Data Gathering and the Census," and the "Grants 101: Preproposal Activities." The 2025 sessions will include three grant application trainings focused on building compelling narratives, budgeting, and application refinement. Organizations interested in applying can access more information through the Loudoun County website or contact the county at nonprofit@loudoun.gov. Applications will be processed through a structured form in AmpliFund, and detailed instructions are provided to ensure successful submission.
