The Sisters' Circle Fund of Greater Kansas City is a philanthropic initiative established in 2016 under the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Its mission is to promote charitable giving within African American communities and to direct those funds toward nonprofit organizations that enhance the quality of life for African Americans in the Greater Kansas City region. Through intentional and impactful grantmaking, the Sisters’ Circle Fund supports programs and services that provide meaningful value to the communities it was designed to benefit. For 2025, the Sisters’ Circle Fund will open its grant application on March 6 and will accept submissions until June 3 at 5:00 p.m. Central Time. Decisions will be announced in August 2025. Grants typically range between $5,000 and $20,000 and are made through a competitive review process. Proposals must clearly demonstrate how the funded program or project will benefit African Americans within specific counties in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Eligible applicants must be nonprofit organizations with current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Funded activities must serve residents in one or more of the following counties: Clay, Jackson, or Platte in Missouri, or Johnson or Wyandotte in Kansas. Proposals falling outside this geographic focus will not be considered. In addition, the Fund does not support individuals, political organizations or activities, denominational religious programming, special one-time events, capital campaigns, or similar excluded activities. The application process is conducted through SurveyMonkey Apply. New applicants must register on the platform to access the application, and individuals affiliated with existing organizational accounts should contact the grants office for access.
