Grant Description

The Rapides Foundation invites applications for the Strengthening Families Grant, a funding opportunity designed to prevent substance and alcohol abuse by implementing the evidence-based Strengthening Families Program 7-17 (SFP). This initiative targets families and youth aged 6–17 in the parishes of Allen, Avoyelles (excluding Bunkie), Catahoula, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, and Vernon. Applications are due by Friday, January 17, 2025, no later than 4:00 p.m. Central Time. The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a science-based intervention focused on increasing resilience and reducing risk factors associated with behavioral, emotional, academic, and social challenges. By improving family relationships, parenting skills, and youth social competencies, the program aims to decrease substance use, enhance protective factors, strengthen family communication, and reduce behavioral and emotional issues among youth. Eligible applicants include faith-based, nonprofit, and government organizations that work directly with families or youth in the target age range. Applicants must be classified as Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entities or governmental organizations and must operate within The Rapides Foundation’s service area or restrict funded activities to the Foundation’s nine parishes. Organizations can request funding up to $100,000 for a 12-month period from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. While not mandatory, securing matching funds or in-kind support is encouraged. Proposals must be submitted through the Foundation’s online application process. Required materials include the Request for Proposals, a work plan and timeline, a budget worksheet, and a signature page. All documents must be uploaded by the deadline, and applicants are advised to allow sufficient time—at least three hours—for the submission process. Technical assistance is available at no cost to applicants seeking guidance on proposal submission. For inquiries or support, contact Dallas Russell, Healthy Behaviors Initiative Program Officer, at dallas@rapidesfoundation.org or 318-443-3394. Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the key materials thoroughly before applying to ensure alignment with grant requirements and objectives.
