Grant Description

This grant opportunity from Cowell Foundation is open to organizations working in Northern or Central California communities experiencing acute and widespread poverty. The foundation is particularly interested in supporting community partners advancing racial justice and equitable outcomes for people and communities of color. To apply, potential applicants must contact the foundation to discuss their organization's work and alignment with the foundation's priorities. The community should have a strong "sense of place" arising from factors such as location, history, and shared goals among residents, community-based organizations, and educators. Additionally, local leaders are expected to demonstrate commitment to the community beyond the scope of their own roles and agencies. For Education and Youth organizations, inquiries should be directed to Lydia Burstyn at burstyn@shcowell.org. For Families organizations and all other types of inquiries, contact Brittany Redelfs at redelfs@shcowell.org. The foundation does not accept unsolicited letters of inquiry or proposals but has a structured process for inviting proposals after an initial inquiry call to determine alignment with their priorities. They welcome funding inquiries year-round
