HealthLit4Wake Mini-Grant

Wake County Health and Human Services is proud to announce the launch of the HealthLit4Wake Mini Grant Awards! Donor Name: Wake County Health and Human Services State: North Carolina County: Wake County (NC) Type of Grant: Grant Deadline: 10/04/2024 Size of the Grant: $3,000 – $10,000 Details: HealthLit4Wake is supported by a federal grant from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), dedicated to enhancing health literacy and promoting health equity. Through the HealthLit4Wake grant, Wake County Government will use the mini grant awards to further relationships with community partners that are working in underserved communities across the county. Moreover, the awards will be distributed to organizations that can help promote accurate, timely, and culturally sensitive health information to historically marginalized populations. Goals The goals of the mini grant awards are aligned with the strategic goals for the HealthLit4Wake grant. Some of these goals are to: Implement evidence-based health literacy interventions within the target community. Increase the knowledge and intent to change behavior among individuals impacted by the health literacy interventions. Ensure alignment between the demographic characterizes of the populations reached and the target populations, specifically Black/African American and Hispanic populations. Enhance community engagement by Community Health Workers (CHWs) through events and activities that address Social Determinants of Health. Promote the establishment of policies, practices, and partnerships within organizations that contribute to improving Health Equity. Mini grants will be awarded to organizations that provide resources and services to historically marginalized communities. With this mini grant, recipients are expected to reach community members with questions and concerns regarding a variety of health topics, promoting health literacy and health equity within Wake County communities. Some examples of work that could be funded include: Hosting health fairs to distribute health information and conduct screenings. Conducting community outreach to educate on various health topics. Producing messaging to promote health literacy and health equity: Social media campaigns, Radio messaging, Fliers, Infographics, Newsletters, etc. Hosting workshops or seminars on health literacy and preventive health measures. Creating educational materials tailored to the needs of specific communities. Facilitating listening sessions to understand and address community health concerns. Implementing programs to support mental health and wellness. And other innovative ideas to enhance health literacy and equity within Wake County. Funding Information Wake County will be distributing $150,000 in mini grant funding. Applicants can apply for awards ranging from $3,000 – $10,000. Eligibility Criteria All local non-profits, faith-organizations, universities, local businesses, and entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply!
